The Veteran Law Project aims to improve the experiences of service personnel and veterans harmed by their military service.  Our work focuses on the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme and War Pension Scheme.

Why is this project important?

Hundreds of military personnel are harmed each year while serving in the British military (1).  Those injured since 6 April 2005 may be eligible for a payment through the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme (AFCS).  Those harmed before 5 April 2005 may instead be eligible for an award under the War Pension Scheme (WPS).  Such awards are processed by the Ministry of Defence department Defence Business Services - Veterans UK

Today, approximately 150,000 individuals have received payments through either the AFCS or WPS schemes
