VLP response to BBC Radio 4's "The Final Battle: Veterans fighting for compensation"

As much as we each have individual experiences, our collective experience of dealing with Veterans UK has brought us together.  At a time when VUK attempt to portray us as the outliers to their figures, we really need to understand how many people give up because of the nightmare they face but, this is not data VUK collects.

We have repeatedly attempted to engage with MoD, VUK and those Ministers responsible but, each of us then has tales of disengagement and being ‘let down’ by those who we turn to in times of dire straits.  Each of us strongly stands by the stories presented in the BBC’s ‘File On 4’, broadcast that aired on Tuesday 26 June 2024 at 8pm.  Each of us has an inordinate amount of evidence to back up the failures reported in the programme.  After coming up against a brick wall repeatedly in the form of the MoD and VUK, we were left with no option but to go public.

We ask all fellow Veterans and Service Personnel who have lived through experiences such as ours, to stand with us, and demand drastic change to see vulnerable veterans treated with the professionalism we exhibited within our own military service, rather than the adversarial tactics we face at every single step.

We are stronger together.
